Leader: Islamic Awakening, A Grand Development

The wave of Islamic Awakening sweeping across the Arab World has so far toppled four of the dictatorial regimes and is about to bring down more with the people’s trust in God and the vociferous cries of “Allah-o Akbar” that have unnerved the US and the illegal Zionist entity called Israel. To mark the year-long movement, which has youth at the forefront, recently the Islamic Republic of Iran hosted over 1,200 revolutionary youths from 73 countries for the 1st “Islamic Awakening and Youth Confab”. On January 30, these enthusiastic youths had a meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, during which they were clearly full of emotion, shedding tears of joy and reciting poems.

Fatema Mughniyah, the daughter of Martyr Imad Mughniyah tof Lebanon’s legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah, addressing the Leader said: I the daughter of Martyr Mughniyah is your spiritual daughter, and we regard the victory of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) as the source of the current Islamic Awakening sweeping the region. In his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the overthrow of four dictators within a year as an auspicious and important development, saying: “The history of the world and humanity is witnessed a momentous juncture today. A new era is starting throughout the world. The great and clear sign of it is that the movement of the people is God-oriented, inspired by the holy Qur’an. Almighty Allah’s promised that the divine religion of Islam ensures the real salvation and prosperity of humanity will eventually materialize.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution hailed the revolutionary youths as bearers of great tidings for the future of the ummah, saying: I greet all the dear guests. When the youth of a country awaken, there will be a general awakening in that country. Today Muslim youth have awakened throughout the world. They have succeeded in surmounting the various hurdles placed in their path. You see what has happened in Tunisia, in Egypt, in Libya, and in Yemen, and what is underway in Bahrain. This is all good news. The dictators and their western supporters never thought that the revolutionary youths in Islamic states could rise against the despotic regimes and overthrow them. This is a prelude to an uprising against the unjust system of global and international dictatorship, that is, the tyranny of the corrupt and evil network of the Zionists and their arrogant godfathers. The US and the dangerous Zionist network are the embodiment of satanic plots. They are blackmailing the whole world and using different methods and tools to deceived and destroy world people. Thus, what you did in Egypt, in Tunisia, in Libya, and in Yemen, and what you are doing in Bahrain, will surely have an impact of other countries, and is part of a battle against this dangerous and harmful nexus that it is exploiting humanity for two centuries. The momentous juncture that I spoke about is the transition from the hegemony of this dictatorship to national freedom and the rule of spiritual and divine values. This will happen, and be sure about it without the least doubt.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the revolutionary youth against underestimating their own capabilities, pointing out that the two biggest problems the decadent culture of the West has imposed on world Muslims are the sense of incompetence and the supposed invincibility of the US. They made Muslims believe that they were not capable of doing anything - neither in the political arena, nor in the field of economy, and not even in the scientific spheres. And at the same time, they bragged about the invincibility of the US; that is cannot be defeated, and we had no choice except to bow to American dictates. These two misconceptions and wrong ideas have lingered for decades and are the reasons for the resulting backwardness. Today it has become clear to world Muslims that both these imposed ideas are totally wrong. Muslims can move forward; they can regain their Islamic glory. Remember, it were the Muslims who were pioneers in science, technology, economy, industry, politics, and all other spheres, where they dazzled with brilliance. This has the made the enemy fearful and now it has no other choice but to retreat in every fields

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Movement is now passing through a crucial juncture. The campaign against colonialism and exploitation which intensified with the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979 is now spreading in the Islamic world. Today the Islamic movement throughout the world is not trapped in sectarian differences. It is neither Shi’ite nor Sunni. It is not limited to Ja’fari, Shafi'i, Hanafi, Maliki, Hanbali and Zaydi schools of jurisprudent. It is independent of Arabs, Persians and other ethnicities. Everybody is present in this vast arena. We must try not to let the enemy foment discord among us. There must be a sense of brotherhood among us. We must strive to specify our goal, that is, the goal of Islam. The goal is the rule of the Qur’an and of Islam. Of course, there are certain differences and similarities among Muslim countries. There is no single paradigm that fits all Islamic countries. In different countries, there are different geographic, historical and social conditions, but there are also certain shared principles: all of us are opposed to the arrogant powers, all of us are opposed to the evil hegemony of the West; all of us are opposed to the cancerous tumor, Israel.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the current century “the century of Islam and spirituality”, and said that it is Islam which grants intellectuality, spirituality and justice to mankind. He added: “We must move forward. This movement is a successful movement because the prospects are bright. By Allah's favour, there will be a day when the Ummah will reach the peak of power and independence, and thus, irrespective of their trivial differences, Muslims should come together under the banner of Islam unity in order to regain their dignity.
