Iran: 45 million flowers grown, harvested in Mahallat

Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture has said Mallaht has started harvesting of 45 million Gladiolus and Chrysanthemums in this summer.

Qasem Ali Safari told IRNA that up to 43 million Gladiolus and 2.4 million Chrysanthemums would be picked up in Mahallat.

Mahallat florists plant 28 million Chrysanthemums annually. The region, in central-western province of Markazi, is the top Chrysanthemums producer in the country.

172 million different species of flowers are produced every year in Mahallat, 6 millions of which are exported annually.

Mahallat is located 287 km south west of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
