Iranian Minister emphasizes further IMF role

Iran’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Seyed Shamseddin Hosseini called for further IMF supervision over the performance of industrialized countries.

According to IRIB correspondent, speaking at the ministerial meeting of Group 24 in New York, Hosseini said that the IMF supervision so far focused on developing states despite the fact that global crises are due to the methods and performance of industrialized economies.

He reiterated that the IMF performance indicates that there have been shortcomings in spotting the crises and decisions for rectifying them.

Group 24 meetings are held twice a year on the sidelines of joint IMF and World Bank meetings and discuss international monetary issues.
