According to a new report by AFP, the government of Ethiopia sees Adama region as a perfect location for the construction of three wind farms, the first of which has been already made operational.
Solomon Yismaw, the engineer, who is in charge of 102 Chinese-built turbines, each 70-meter high, which are used in the project said "In February, during the dry season, it is even difficult to stand here."
The first Adama wind farm was inaugurated almost a month ago with the capacity to produce 153 megawatt (MW) of electricity, which makes it the largest wind farm in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to local officials, the hills in Adama region, which is located 100 kilometres southeast of the capital, Addis Ababa, stand 2,000 meters above the sea level.
