Bangladeshis strike over US-made film

Most schools, shops and offices in Bangladesh have been shut down amid a nationwide strike over a US-made movie insulting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

According to Press TV, on Sunday, Bangladeshi opposition parties called for a nationwide strike in condemnation of the blasphemous movie.
Sunday is normally a business day in the Muslim-majority country with a population of around 153 million.

Tensions are running high in the capital Dhaka, where thousands of police forces have been deployed to prevent gatherings.

The police have also arrested more than 40 people.
On Saturday, people held a demonstration in defiance of a ban on protests in central Dhaka. At least 50 protesters were injured in clashes with police.
