Salehi: 'Amano's comments are unprofessional'

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, has described comments by the Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukia Amano, as unprofessional. Amano had claimed that Iran was currently trying to "cleanse" the Parchin military site near Tehran.

According to an ISNA report, Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi referred to recent comments by IAEA Director General Yukia Amano. Salehi said  Amano's claim that Iran was "washing away or cleansing" traces of radioactivity at Parchin military site was "unacceptable from a technical point of view",  since it was impossible to "wash away or cleanse radioactivity".  Salehi said Amano's unprofessional claims could easily be used to "misguide or misinform public opinion", and that this was wrong.

The Iranian foreign minister expressed hope that in the upcoming talks between Iran and the Agency to be held in Tehran, both sides can reach an agreement about IAEA experts visiting the Parchin military site.

Commenting on the situation in Bahrain, Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi emphasized that a peaceful solution needs to be found  to the Bahrain crisis, and that Tehran has repeatedly emphasized that Bahrain's sovereignty  and independence is respected by the Islamic Republic.

Commenting on Russia's  proposal for solving the Syrian crisis, Ali Akbar Salehi expressed hope that talks between all sides in Syria would eventually lead to a resolution of the crisis  in that country.

Commenting on Iran- 5+1 group negotiations, Salehi said Iran has never left the negotiating table, so it was quite wrong to say that Iran should come back to the negotiating table.
