Aale Saud makes futile bid to change conditions in favor of Riyadh

In the aftermath of Aale Saud’s recurring failures in Middle East, the Saudi regime intends to somehow change the conditions in favor of Riyadh by holding two rounds of meetings. But, the fact of the matter is that Riyadh is counting on burnt pawns. The Saudi Arabian Capital, Riyadh, is host to the 36th Persian Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, in addition to the meetings of the Syrian opposition groups. These two rounds of meeting are different in nature.  Meanwhile, Riyadh hosts these two rounds of meetings in order to allegedly prove it is still an influential player and the main decision-maker in Middle East region.

However, Aale Saud bore witness to the failure of its regional policies in the second half of the year 2015.

As of the year 2011, Saudi regime backed terrorists in Syria, and dealt a heavy blow against Syria in collaboration with a number of other regional states, including Turkey, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates. On March 2015, the Saudi troops attacked Yemen, making another huge mistake. The newly-appointed and ailing Saudi King Salman, in the company of his inexperienced team, has been bogged down in the crisis in Yemen, while the former Saudi King Abdullah and his team had utterly failed in Syria, despite years of diplomatic experience.

Seemingly, Saudi King Salman and his team try to be different to the former Saudi King Abdullah and his team of politicians, in a bid to set the stage for their future political ambitions, but to no avail. In fact, the Saudi regime’s political reputation has been tarnished across the world and throughout the Middle East region.

The Saudi regime has been bogged down in a quagmire in Yemen. If this regime halts the war it has waged in Yemen, the Ansarullah Movement continues to be in power and has not been marginalized. If the Saudi regime prolongs the war it has instigated in Yemen, the human catastrophe in this war-torn country would mount, drawing the sharp criticism of the international community.

The Saudi regime has been also facing the failure of its five-year efforts to topple Assad administration. The Russian attacks on the positions of terrorists which were staged as of September 30, 2015; have tilted the balance of power in favor of the popular Syrian President, Bashar Assad. Throughout the recent Vienna meetings, the Saudi regime made strenuous efforts to determine the fate of Bashar Assad in the final statement of these meetings and to terminate Assad’s rule. However the sound logic of Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia prevented the materialization of the Saudi regime’s ploys.

Aale Saud, in the aftermath of its failure in Vienna, is hosting Riyadh meetings in the presence of the opposition groups to Syrian ruling system. However, this round of meetings is marked as another political failure of the Saudi regime. Meanwhile, the opposition groups to the Syrian ruling system have taken part in these meetings, selectively, and the United Nations doesn’t play any role in this round of meetings.
